Two teens, a boy and a girl, were shot in a gym at Delaware Valley Charter School in Philadelphia Friday.
The suspected shooter, a student at the school, later was taken into custody.
The two victims , both reportedly 15-year-old students, were each shot in the arm and taken to a hospital where police said they were in stable condition,
It was unclear if the shots came from inside or outside the building.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said the shooter was captured near his home but the gun has not been recovered. He said surveillance video showed a group of students hanging around when the shooting happened.
It was unclear if the shooting was accidental or intentional but it "doesn't look like an active shooter type of situation," he said.
On Twitter, Philadelphia police wrote: ``Police have Delaware Valley Charter School shooter in custody'' and also said he was a student at the school, according to Reuters.
Earlier, police had tweeted, "SHOOTER - Turn yourself in. Get it over with now.''
The incident was the second school shooting this week.
A 12-year-old boy is accused of opening fire with a shotgun at a New Mexico school Tuesday and seriously wounding two students.
