Pakistanis Not Allowed In Restaurant “La Maison” In Islamabad
Muslims being labeled as “terrorists” are devoid of various things across the globe. Usually, Pakistanis are not restricted by some foreign country to get entertained, but this time, a foreign body operating locally (in Islamabad), has set “no entry” board to the natives of the country.
“La Maison”, a French restaurant located in country’s capital city Islamabad, is the one I am talking about. The restaurant’s head, Phillip Lafforgue argues, the food served at the restaurant is non-halal, and hence Pakistani guests are not entertained. For all the customers coming, it is necessary to show off their passport. Local people, holding dual nationality, however can come and have the food.
The question here arise is, are all Pakistanis Muslims? Does possessing foreign passport make you, permissible to consume HARAM food? No. It does not! Being born in a foreign land does not make you a non-Muslim. Long were the days when we in our homeland, British people came and formed colonies and ruled over us. “La Maison” revives the days.
One of the journalists, Cyril Almeida, got offensive and complained to Philip for restricting Pakistani guests at the restaurant. To which, the owner responded:
“By the way this weekend I was reading the ads in the newspaper and all the ads for renting houses in Islamabad were for foreigners and multinational companies only. Swedish villas in Lahore are only rented to foreigners. They refuse Pakistani people. The International club in Lahore and Sindh Club in Karachi do not accept Pakistani people, even as a guest. If I go to the Diplomatic Enclave, all I’ll have to do is show my passport. Whereas you will have to get a ticket, pay the fees and go by bus. The guest house right close to mine is reserved for Chinese people only. I will stop here because I don’t want to waste your time. But yes, there is a lot of discrimination in this country. But I don’t…”
In this way, the Pakistani was denied having access to the Diplomatic Clave of the country. Philip stated he respects faith of Muslims. Non-Halal food served may sound unsuitable to the local people, hence they are not permitted, he added. However, the restaurant hires the employees who are the local people, the Pakistanis.
